A Hampshire-based start-up has launched a new domestic heat battery, which it claims can decarbonise thousands of Scottish homes. Caldera’s Warmstone battery heats up overnight using off-peak electricity and then releases this during the day. The company believes the rollout of its technology in rural areas could provide gigawatts of energy storage from renewable sources like wind turbines.
